Casey comes across as rather arrogant to me and he seems surprisingly proud of working on the failed hyperloop nonsense. A good follow? I'm not so sure.
Edit: After checking out his startup I'm even more skeptical. His white paper on "Terraformer One" has more holes than Swiss cheese.
I can’t speak to his character, as we’ve never met. From the one or two podcast episodes I’ve heard him on, I’d say that this might be an effect if writing forcefully with a clear perspective, without the usual hedging that’s common among professional scientists and engineers. That makes his writing much more interesting IMO, but YMMV. As for the hyperloop, I’m often proud of work on even my dumbest ideas, especially if it involved something technically interesting or novel, so I cannot begrudge him this.
The nice thing about Substack is that the barrier to entry is low. I look forward to reading your critical post on the Terraformer One concept.
